General Manager - Operations

Role and Responsibilities

General Manager – Sales

Role and Responsibilities

  • Manages the activities of sales staff and ensures target revenues are met or exceeded.
  • Manage group of area account managers; providing hands-on sales leadership in the management of sales plans, targets achievement and sales coaching of area account managers.
  • Visit customers, coaching sales account managers on the specifics of selling and closing deals with electrical distribution, light commercial projects and residential systems sold through distributors and installers to end consumers (i.e., multi-channel sales).
  • Improve positioning and strengthen overall relationships with exiting partners and distributors in your region. 
  • Develop and implement innovative sales strategies and processes that drive higher levels of growth through market penetration (grow market share) and channel growth in your region.
  • Track performance while assisting and holding individual sales personnel accountable for their targets. 
  • Manage performance of sales account managers utilizing performance management tools and philosophy and execute quarterly sales plans and payments.
  • Generate and develop leads and qualify prospects, through cold-calling and other lead generation activities for high-profile clients.  While this is a management position, it is a hands-on leadership position that will require relationship development and cultivation with customers in your assigned region.
  • Review, filter and track new sales opportunities in your region.  Ensure effective reporting of sales activities and pipeline opportunities.
  • Participate in developing company strategy, lead development of the sales strategy for your region, and lead implementation and execution of sales strategy.
  • Hire and train additional sales staff as the sales organization grows. 
  • Work with marketing to develop effective product collateral.  Assist with marketing activities and product launches as necessary to support sales in your region.

Lighting Engineer

Role and Responsibilities

  • Actively support the sales engineers in a technical capacity in the field.
  • Attending design/concept meetings with clients to help interpret their needs and design aspirations.
  • Provide and assist with the design and application of bespoke luminaries from time to time. 
  • Coordinate projects from conception through to order stage.
  • Responsible for handling projects which includes site visits, architect/consultant meets, planning, making & presenting technical presentation for lighting system.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • BS or Diploma in Electric Engineering
  • 3 – 5 years relevant experience in Lighting Layout
  • Strong understanding of lighting technology, exterior lighting design, system generation of CAD layouts and electrical diagrams.
  • Proficient in Lighting Software (DIALUX or similar)

Preferred Skills

  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
  • Solid PC skills including Microsoft Office

  • Must be able to read construction drawings and diagrams, and can develop a work plan and material list.
