The light systems used for airports, runways, obstructions, and other visual aids at night are important aspects of night flying. Lighted airports located away from congested areas can be identified readily at night by the lights outlining the runways.

This unit normally operates automatically from dusk to dawn, although it can also be programmed through the manual switch to operate in the daytime during adverse or low visibility conditions.
